Fashion Forward Interiors: The Growing Influence of Style in Home Decor
It is no secret that our fashion interests and forever evolving style will naturally impact other creative pastimes we enjoy. Fashion considers texture, pattern, fabric, and material, uniquely constructed for our pleasure and self-expression, establishing innumerable trends that have dictated some of Interior Design’s most desirable fads. Not only have the most notable Fashion houses like Armani, Jean Paul Gaultier, and Gucci created home décor that maintains brand independence and superior quality, but their teams have ultimately combined their impeccable design skills in fashion and transferred them to a medium that serves the purpose of elevating your home and defining one's true aesthetic and style.
Layering patterns and textiles have been explored in many diverse ways in Fashion, with the likes of Kenzo infusing knitwear with silk or Simone Rocha and her daring assimilation of embroidered mesh and plaid. Naturally, we adventure across various mediums to discover the perfect harmony and synergy of materials in our homes, for instance, the sleek, classy ambiance that a white marble countertop creates, intuitively paired with the richly toned hard maple kitchen unit, with a luxurious, warm, and modern finish. Individuals may lean towards a muted monotone palette in their dress sense, which could reflect their preference towards minimalism or simplistic tastes. Those who are eccentric in their style may have a flair for bold splashes of colour in the lounge area or interpretive artwork adorning their walls. While not universally applicable, this offers insight into what we visually enjoy and find pleasure in, which ultimately influences the personalities we display. Identifying our style and creating a visual connection between material, garment, or fabric ignites our individuality as designers, showcasing the infinite creative freedom that Fashion Design and Interior Design afford us.

Aesthetic Alignment: Harmonising Fashion and Interior Design
The global phenomenon that is the Fashion Industry extends beyond apparel and couture, feeding into aspects of life that we often relish. Fashion is the mother of colour, aesthetics, individuality, and innovation. As Interior designers, the initiative to curate contemporary spaces with an exclusive and personable feel is imperative to our craft, and the endless sources of inspiration we infer from help us to design environments that hold meaning.
The work of Iris Van Herpen resonates with me, as her fascination with architecture, as seen in her collaboration with Neutelings Riedijk Architects in 2019 for the Naturalis Biodiversity Center in Leiden, shows elements of movement and nature, which is fervently embedded in many of her concepts and executed with acute precision and beauty. Her philosophy of living architecture and how a body inhabits a form or environment illustrates a unique connection yet to be deciphered, and the relationship formed transcends the physicality it possesses, drawing focus to the narrative.
Through the likes of Iris Van Herpen, Thom Browne, and Robert Wun, we understand the desire for intricacy, and dedication to convoluted detail, generating a vision of pure excellence and character. Wun’s designs are born of extraterrestrial surrealism, and truly depict the art of imagination, whilst Browne explores the limits of geometry in accordance to the nature of the human form.
Designers of all crafts are destined to innovate with inspiration from one another, as there are numerous techniques, methods, and executions to learn from. Whether it's Interiors, Architecture, Textiles, Fashion, or Environment, the prospect of design is part of humanity.

supremati’s completed projects - albion gate, hyde park, london
Albion Gate is an interior-architectural project that Supremati designed for a developer in central London, Hyde Park.
The property is set in a lavish, historical art-deco building and consists of two-bedrooms, both with their own en-suites. Most of the furniture and artwork was already the client’s, so Supremati was responsible for designing the joinery, such as the doors, and all of the finishes. The studio was also responsible for the design management of the property and the entire space has been co-ordinated under Magda’s creative direction.
The completed project exudes luxury, while simultaneously being comfortable and spacious. Inspiration was taken from the art-deco building itself; the bespoke details are taken from that time period and are thoroughly checked to be held to the highest standard. Meanwhile, the colour palette of green undertones is inspired by the property’s location, Hyde Park. This creates a nice balance between the minimalism and luxury of the interior.

supremati’s travel guide - museum van loon - amsterdam
Visiting the Van Loon Museum in Amsterdam sounds like a truly enriching experience! The blend of history, art, and design within the context of a former residence offers a unique perspective on the city's cultural heritage.
It's fascinating how the house's evolution reflects different periods and tastes, from its original construction by Adriaan Dortsman in the 17th century to the transformative influence of the Van Hagen-Trip couple in the 18th century, who brought the opulent Louis XV style to its interior.

OUR GUIDE TO CURATING YOUR PERSONAL ART & DESIGN COLLECTIOn - Joseph Walsh
Joseph Walsh is an Irish furniture maker, artist and designer who is passionate about conveying life’s natural free flow through material and form. This is reflected through the smooth almost liquid-like structures of his pieces, which are dynamic yet not aggressive. Instead, they feel modern, soft, elegant and fluid.
Fluidity in solid materials, such as woodwork, is of course hard to carve out or create, however, Walsh through the use of traditional techniques as his base, has largely created his own sense of craftsmanship to achieve his unique style.
He has been commissioned to do pieces for the National Gallery of Ireland, and most recently his work has been displayed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. His work is a definite Supremati recommendation!

OUR GUIDE TO CURATING YOUR PERSONAL ART & DESIGN COLLECTION
Anna Bera is one of our favourite Polish artists. She mainly takes inspiration from observing the relationship that exists between humans and nature, which results in her organic and functional art. Using wood as her main medium, her unique, sculptural objects are versatile and are left up for interpretation to encourage users to create their own meanings and relationship with each object.
