Creating a Luxurious Bedroom Sanctuary: Design Insights from Our Belgravia Apartment Project

Luxurious bedroom interior in Belgravia apartment by Supremati, featuring a custom upholstered headboard, layered textiles, and ambient lighting.

At Supremati, we believe the bedroom is more than just a place to sleep, it is a sanctuary. A private retreat where tranquillity, elegance, and comfort converge. In our recently completed Belgravia Apartment in London, we explored how tailored details and intentional design transform a bedroom into a refined personal haven.

Here, we share four key design strategies to help you elevate your own bedroom, whether you're redesigning a city pied-à-terre or refreshing a master suite in your primary residence.

1. Bespoke Upholstered Headboards & Layered Textiles

A custom, wall-spanning upholstered headboard instantly elevates a bedroom, adding architectural presence and visual balance. In Belgravia, we crafted a headboard that anchors the room while softening the space.

We layered the bed with tailored bedding and bespoke cushions in curated fabrics to create both comfort and cohesion.

Designer Tip:
Opt for oversized cushions, we recommend 60 x 60 cm for a plush, luxurious feel, or 70 x 70 cm for optimal support. A single long bolster cushion (around 130 x 30 cm) offers a refined, contemporary finish that feels both understated and considered.

2. Architectural Lighting & Ambient Control

Lighting is one of the most powerful tools in any bedroom design. For this project, we integrated a dimmable LED strip within the cornice, allowing the lighting to transition seamlessly from bright and functional to soft and ambient.

This type of layered lighting supports every mood, from morning rituals to evening relaxation and adds a subtle architectural detail that elevates the room.

3. A Soothing, Textured Palette

A calming colour palette is essential to creating a restful bedroom. At Supremati, we often blend silk-thread wallpapers, grasscloth textures, and soft matte finishes to craft a tactile, layered scheme that exudes serenity.

For this project, we worked with a muted palette drawn from the surrounding art and architecture, allowing each element from the bedding to the joinery to flow in visual harmony.

4. Curated Art & Personal Identity

Art is often the soul of a bedroom. In Belgravia, we began the design process with a striking piece of artwork that set the tone for the entire scheme.

From there, we drew the colour story into the fabrics, finishes, and textures ensuring a cohesive narrative that feels highly personal and effortlessly sophisticated.
