Penthouse Interior Design in St John’s Wood – A Bespoke Luxury Extension on Abbey Road

This remarkable penthouse extension elevates the historic Manor House Apartments on Abbey Road in St John’s Wood, transforming a traditional 1930s Neo-Georgian building into a contemporary luxury residence. Designed for a long-standing developer client, this project marks our fourth successful collaboration and showcases our studio’s expertise in high-end interior design in St John’s Wood.

The development required extensive planning, architectural coordination, and careful navigation of permissions before moving into the creative phase. Once approved, our team was entrusted with complete design freedom - allowing us to define the spatial layout, structural adjustments, and the full aesthetic direction of the home.

Working sensitively within the building’s 1930s architectural language, we reimagined the penthouse to enhance its heritage charm while introducing a refined modern sensibility. The interior layout was thoughtfully reshaped to maximise natural light and improve flow and proportion. The master suite was substantially enlarged to create a distinct separation from the guest accommodation, and bespoke integrated storage was designed throughout to maintain a clean, harmonious environment.

Our studio delivered the full scope of design services, from architectural refinements and structural coordination to the creation of tailored joinery and custom-made furniture. Every detail was curated - including artwork, accessories, textiles, and bedding - to ensure a cohesive and luxurious finish.

The aesthetic draws inspiration from both the building’s inter-war Neo-Georgian symmetry and the subtle glamour of Art Deco. High-gloss woods, marble surfaces, gold accents, and mirrored finishes bring brightness and depth to the home. Soft green tones and natural foliage- echoing the nearby landscapes of Regent’s Park - add a refreshing contrast to the rich materiality.
